Mother-son duo create magic Sumita Chatterjee Thursday, March 19, 2009
Indian, ethnic, classy and rich to the core is what designer Ritu Kumar's designs are all about. On the contrary, her son Amrish prefers designing youthful, contemporary, fresh outfits.
But when the mother-son duo meet on one ramp, it becomes a magical fusion of sorts.
Guests Manish Malhotra and Rahul Gandhi could not stop cheering Ritu and her son.
Ritu Kumar, who seemed visibly happy to see her son take the final walk on the ramp alone said that Amrish's designs are for the youth of today. "Age differences do show on the ramp. While I prefer to keep my designs ethnic, Amrish's designs are fresh and contemporary," she said.
"I think together we rock," Kumar added. Their designs were inspired from the Islamic and Japanese folklore designs.
Ritu and Amrish had used a vibrant colour palette ranging from bright yellow to dark blue, from magenta to purple and pink.
The fabrics on diplay were mainly silk and cotton, which had beautiful embroidery work on them.
Talking about the new venue, Ritu Kumar said, "It is confusing, but then we must also understand that it is just the first day. I am sure we will get used to it gradually." |
