| | The Royal Duo
Amrita Gandhi: Every travel anchor loves coming home…but even when she is all traveled out after weeks on a shoot there is no distance Amrita wouldn’t go for good coffee. Thank god for the new neighbourhood café in Nizamuddin. Talking of travel she has been doing a lot of that lately. Chronicling the stories of India’s erstwhile princes she has gone from Ladakh to Thiruvanthapuram, Kathiwad to Shillong, and has falled quite in love with the stories, the families and the architecture and the history. She has become such a maharajah geek that her favourite pastime in heritage hotel lobbies is to guess the name of kings in portraits – her average a score is 3/10. In her new home in Delhi she revels in the roller coaster ride of her repatriate life. At times overwhelmed but at most times over the moon Amrita hopes that she will never again live away from India too long.
Arun Thapar: Our luxe journeyman Arun Thapar feels if he wasn't on TV he'd be in trouble. A presenter and senior producer with NDTV, he is the man behind the popular candid comedy Chhupa Rustam that won the Indian Television Academy's jury award for Best Comedy in 2002. Few things beat a good laugh, believes Arun and as a senior member of the team that created the path-breaking puppet series Gustakhi Maaf and The Great Indian Tamasha, we believe him. The past 14 years have seen our Iran-born anchor create concepts, direct, produce, script and present shows in a range of genres including Music, Travel, Sports, News, Comedy, Reality and Political Satire. This worldly nirvana-seeker has been part of NDTV's award winning series Jai Jawan as presenter. In 2007, he created Airtel Scholar Hunt, Destination UK - a first of its kind reality show. He has an MA from JNU, Delhi in medieval Indian history but has a tough time remembering dates! His motto: The only thing worse than being famous, is not being famous! | |
