Episode 1
High-pressure lifestyles, troubled relationships, long commutes, acute feelings of time poverty. And beneath it all an almost constant hum of anxiety. How did our lives get to be this way? You get out of the meeting and find the season outside has changed. You look up from your desk and find that your children are all grown up and ready to leave home. When did it happen? Something terribly important seems to be passing us by. Must success ask such a high price? This episode draws on wisdom that is thousands of years old but which may provide answers to one of our most important questions: Is it possible to be exceptionally productive AND exceptionally peaceful? And the man perhaps most qualified in the world, to answer that question. Swami Parthasarathy was born into a wealthy shipping family. Subsequently he received multiple degrees in literature, science and finally a post-graduation degree in International Law from London University. And yet, despite a lucrative career and personal prosperity, which included a Rolls Royce, something didn’t quite feel right. At the age of 26, Swami Parthasarathy walked out on it all because he says “It simply stopped mattering”. He spent the next six decades studying and teaching Vedanta and is now considered one of the greatest living exponents of Vedanta. This special episode shares the big insights of the Swami who gave up his Rolls-Royce.
