| | Pressure Cooker by Veneta Cucine, is a face-off between cooking enthusiasts in a two-kitchen set-up. We will have two teams, one from Delhi and the other from Mumbai pitted against each other, headed by super chefs Vicky Ratnani & Ritu Dalmia. They play the role of a mentor to their respective three member teams.
These home-style cooks are picked from Delhi and Mumbai to battle it out over 15 episodes. Each episode will have a brand new theme and a celebrity judge who will test the cooking and presentation skills of the contestants. The first episode sets the pace for all that is to come. Team Delhi, made up of a filmmaker, an architect and a homemaker and is mentored by the diva herself, Ritu Dalmia. From Mumbai is Vicky Ratnani, the Gourmet Guru himself who plays mentor to his home team that boasts of a cordon bleu student, a budding chef and an ex-designer! Watch the teams as they battle it out under the watchful eyes of the vivacious Maria Goretti, who sets both teams the task of coming up with authentic chaat items, representative of their cities. The catch is that they have to make items from a set of given ingredients, and that too in ONE hour! Delhi takes up the challenge and declares that they shall make TEN dishes! Does Mumbai live up to this challenge? Controversies fly around the kitchen as to what qualifies as chaat and what does not. His lounge and the kitchen are his favourite hang outs. He loves walking in his garden and his herb plants are his best friends. Intensively trained and extensively traveled, Vicky is the Corporate Chef for fine dining at Aurus in Mumbai. His personal style is - loose T-Shirts, Bermudas, Flip Flops and of course, his chef hat. Meet Vicky Ratnani, who uses global flavours with local produce to create delicious and exotic meals in Gourmet Central.
Ritu Dalmia: Ritu Dalmia is the owner of Diva, one of Delhi's finest Italian restaurants. Diva has won the Hindustan Times' HT City Award for the last four years and The Times of India's Times Food Award for the last two years. Ritu also runs the extremely popular café at the Italian Cultural Centre. She was awarded the prestigious Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity. At the age of sixteen, Ritu joined her father's marble business. She often travelled to Italy for work and fell in love with its cuisine on her trips there. At the age of twenty-one she started her first restaurant MezzaLuna, in Delhi, offering Mediterranean cuisine with an Italian accent. It was in her words 'a wonderful disaster' and she closed shop and moved to London, where she opened the acclaimed Indian restaurant Vama. She returned to Delhi to open Diva. | |
