Heavy Petting All Stars With the Music Genius, Raghav Sachar
Tenor – the 9-year old singing Labrador is much of a prodigy. Raghav Sachar – the music director, singer and multi-instrumentalist who can play 33 musical instruments is a 'born genius', as termed by the show 'My Brilliant Brain' on National Geographic. It's no wonder then that the two of them work magic together and are inseparable. Watch the superstar dog sing, fight against violence, lock eyes in a staring game, jump at the Happy Birthday song and shower oodles of love on the other star in the house Raghav Sachar. And from one stellar Labrador to another – on Pet Reporter, meet Fludo – a 4-year-old Labrador who is a canine therapist, spreading joy and adding meaning to the lives of special children at the Seva Daan School. All this and much more only on Heavy Petting All Stars.
Labs, Alsatian, Pariah, Miniature Dachshunds...the family has them all
A Bungalow in Bombay with eight dogs? Now this we had to see! Anusha is an animal lover to the core. When your neighborhood knows that any injured canine or dog in need should be brought to your house...there is a good chance you will end up with a home that screams bow wow.
Ahmedabad - A pet lovers paradise
Two is company, three is never a crowd. Nova and Tyra are an awesome twosome. But Max, their friendly neighbor is always happy to stop by! Ahmedabad might be the known for its yummy Gujarati thaali (which I had two of!) but it most certainly also is a pet lovers paradise. Debashish and Nupur Ghosh have a delightful home and the first thing that you are likely to notice when you step into the living room, is a life size picture of Deb with a tiger in Thailand.
OMG is that a snake in the bag?
I realize that it's a Dog's life but when you have a tiny cloth bag that keeps moving suspiciously, the team of heavy petting is usually quick to stop and ask important questions like "what’s that?"
Paras meets up with two families, the Starrs and the Vasudevans
Usually the stars on our show are the dogs but Chennai was a tiny bit different. The pet parents could be referred to as nothing else but stars for the simple reason that "Starr" is their family name! The family has 3 black labs. Sweety, Chimpy and Smally are a riot and their pet parents, the Starrs, are every bit affectionate.
German Shepherd puppies tend to pee a lot
I hadn't shot with German Shepherd puppies before. To be perfectly honest, If I wasn't told they were GS babies, I'd have never known. I guess some of their aggression takes a while to develop. At an age of a few weeks, the only scary part of the GS puppies is that they tend to pee a lot, everywhere!

"The Bramhaputra is the only male river in India"
I instantly start going over the names Ganga, Yamuna, Godavri, Saraswati...and realize that IS true! I'd never really thought about that but the fact that at least one river represents the male species in the largest democracy in the world, is good enough. Gender equality, does not apply when it comes to rivers! Evidently women rule. #sigh
Heavy petting in Guwahati
"When Heavy Petting decided to conquer the north east, I made a few phone calls to a cousin who became our unofficial brand ambassador to the state of Assam. While most animal enthusiasts would imagine that Kaziranga would be the obvious choice to shoot animals (shoot as in with a camera, not bang bang!), we realized Guwahati had enough delights for some episodes of ‘It's a dog's life!”
"Omg I found a snake skin!"
"Nashik might be known for its vineyards and its slightly-cleaner-than-Mumbai air but even while we were shooting for an episode of Heavy Petting, the pet parents and I were looking for shed snake skin during the show! Needless to say, this is one happy family!”

Winner of the Tales & Tails contest is Pranab Sharma from Pune.
He tells us about his Labrador, Rufus, who he got as a gift on valentine’s day. Pranab writes “ I fell in love with Rufus the instant I saw him, but my parents didn't quite accept him initially. However, now they not only love him but also make sure to video chat with him regularly." Pranab goes on to say, “once on a rainy day a friend dropped in to my place completely drenched. He removed his shoes and headed straight to the washroom, without petting Rufus. By the time he came out, Rufus had chewed off his shoes in anger!! Well, as they say, hell hath no fury like Rufus scorned.
This week's winner of the Tales & Tails contest is Gunjan Pande from Goa.
She writes to us about her brave 6 year old dalmatian, Zia. Gunjan says: One night when Zia was only one and a half years old, I was woken up in the middle of the night by strange sounds coming from our backyard. I picked up a bamboo stick and went to see what was happening. As soon as I reached i saw Zia tugging at a man’s ankle, and barking ferociously even while the man was throwing stones at her. Soon a crowd gathered and we caught hold of the person only to discover that he was a thief trying to climb the water pipe. The police was immediately called in and soon Zia became the resident hero of our colony and all our hearts.
Tales & Tails contest winner - Jayant Mishra from Bengaluru.
He tells us about his lucky boxer, Monty. Jayant writes “ Monty sure is the privileged child of the house. He likes to sleep with me, pushes me to a corner every night, and most nights impersonates a mosquito repellant!
Monty loves chicken. In fact when the bird flu hit Bengaluru last month, he almost had a nervous breakdown!! He is also health conscious. He goes for walks precisely 4 times a day. He doesn't wear a watch, yet functions like clockwork.
He fights, gets angry, throws tantrums…yet in the night comes right into bed, and hugs me to sleep!
Tales & Tails contest is Monika Makhija from Gurgaon (Haryana).
Monika tells us a touching story about her English bull dog, Dollar:
One day with great difficulty my husband and I managed to make Dollar wear a tick collar. Next morning when i went to feed him, he growled and grabbed at my feet. The same day he bit my mother-in-law. We were so upset and angry, that we sent him to a boarding.
A few days later we got a call from the boarding & we rushed there only to find Dollar’s neck swollen like a balloon because of chewing at his tick collar. Even though it was extremely painful for him, he slowly walked up to us and licked us. We immediately took him to a vet. He was operated upon to remove all the puss.
Dollar is fine now. We feel extremely guilty for what we put him through. For him we are his world and we need to understand him and his situation before judging his acts.
Tales & Tails contest winner: Apoorva Wadhawan from Delhi.
She wrote to us about sprightly little pug Vodka:
Apoorva says, one day I was eating chocolate and Vodka suddenly woke up from his sleep, pounced on me and started licking my chocolate! Soon after, he sat back quietly knowing that the chocolate was his possession now! From then on my chocolate is incomplete without him. But Apoorva here’s a warning. Chocolates are not for canines. Apoorva goes on to say that Vodka is extremely possessive about me. So much so that when I was busy studying for my exams, he came and perched on my books so that I could do nothing better than cuddle him!!
Tales & Tails contest winner Chrisanne Pereira from Mumbai.
She wrote in to us about her pet Dusty:
Dusty got his name as he was lying in dust & his colour blended with the earth & dust around him. Although named 'Dusty' he is spotlessly clean & a stickler for cleanliness. In fact today his name is synonymous with Daring, Unique, Smart, Talented and Youthful.
Tales & Tails contest winner Ruchi Sharma from Ahmedabad
She wrote in to us about her pet Coco.
Ruchi says, Coco has proved to be the child that my husband and i didn’t have. Whenever a guest comes visiting Coco brings out all his toys and shows off. When we return home he brings out our slippers like an obedient child. Though the best part about having Coco around is that whenever my husband and I have a fight Coco goes and hides under the bed. This makes us laugh & patch up!!

In loving memory of Casper From: Aditi Tandon
Casper passed away yesterday after a brief illness of 10 days at a young age of 7.5 years. We are beyond heartbroken specially my parents for whom he was a child when their own children had left home for further studies. In all our years of having pets, we never had a more gentle and beautiful soul. Even visitors admired his good nature and when we went for walks in the colony, people would stop and compliment on his good looks. Throughout his suffering not once did he whimper and till the end wagged his tail when he saw family.
This picture of his was taken on the top of the stairs near our entrance and this was one of Casper's favorite places-. Sitting right at the top he could see which of the family member was coming and run down at a gallop to greet them.
We were very lucky to have him.
