ITALIAN KHANA
If you want to discover real Italy, you have to get out of big towns. That's why you must visit Cremona, a sleepy town 100 km from Milan.
Forget the cars and the cabs. In Cremona, the good old bicycle is the way to travel. Or you can choose to walk.
Cremona is known as the World's Violin Capital, as it is home to the world's finest violin-makers.
It was here that Andrea Amati developed the world's first modern violin in the 16th century. This city is also the hometown of Antonio Stradivari, the world's greatest violin-maker.
As for Italian Khana, Cremona is famous for: Torrone, Provolone Valpadana and Mostarda.

Torrone is a popular Italian Christmas dessert. It may also be served at afternoon tea. Torrone are sticky chewy bars made of egg white, honey, sugar and almond.
So your molars may get a real grind but this nougat is worth it!

Provolone Valpadana is a semi-hard cheese made with whole milk. It can weigh from half a kilo to 100 kilos!
Cutting of Provolone is an art and depends on the shape you want. It can be shaped like a salami, a melon, a cone or even a pear!
Mostarda is nothing but what we call Murabba, except the Italian version tastes better. Like any condiment, Mostarda, is paired with different dishes to impart a distinct flavour. Mostarda is great with cheese, fish, boiled meats and ice cream. How you pair it is very personal.

Mostarda Cremonese is one of the most famous Mostarda of Italy. It is made of candied fruit and essential oil of mustard for that extra kick!
So if you happen to be in Cremona don't give it miss.
