We saw you in the movies, we saw you sing your song...and have to say Mr Musician you're quite a Dylan devout! An actor in transit, a musician at heart, that's the real Imaad Shah for you.
Quite artful with the six-stringer and harmonica too, this musician son of the superlative Naseeruddin Shah, looks the part...with his reflective eyes and tousled mop.
For a guy who picked up a guitar as a school boy and started strumming his tune, he has managed to pen some interesting lyrics. The listener is left in no doubt that the heavy folksy timbre of his music is an unabashed dedication to the iconic Bob Dylan. Says Imaad, “I write songs just by instinct. I go with the sound of words...sometimes whole sentences come out without knowing where they're coming from!
But when it comes to music with a manifesto like his idol who became a figurehead of American unrest in the 60s, Imaad regrets, “I don't know 'bout messages...that's a loaded word for me!” Apart from his folk roots, he's looking to go beyond his variety of sets and other genres are bound to feature in his ever growing list of avenues.
I follow a lot of music...I'm quite a fiend in that sense. A lot of electro-jazz is something I listen to most. When I get a band, I think it should be that,” he offers.
We caught glimpses of Imaad the actor in a couple of well appreciated performances. But the young lad decided to follow his heart after his true calling – music. Well, we hope your musical journey takes you places and you find your groove, Guitar Man.
