Biggest tearjerkers on screen?
Monday, August 01, 2011

Movies evoke strong emotions, most of us would agree. Gauging those emotions for scientific study, sounds farfetched? It's not though, as per a recent report which says that the final scene of the 1979 film, The Champ, has become a must-see in psychology laboratories around the world when scientists want to make people sad.

The 1979 version is a remake of a 1931 Oscar-winning film of the same name. The film is about a boxer past his prime, who makes a comeback. In the climax, he dies in the ring, in front of his young son.

Ahead, some heartrending scenes from films which we feel may qualify as the biggest tearjerkers on the big screen. Vote to tell us your choice.

A word of caution though – these scenes will induce distress so keep those tissues handy.
