The Importance of Elegance

It’s not without reason that they say, money screams while wealth whispers. This is a blog neither about wealth nor about money, but instead about style. And more than style, it’s about elegance.

A virtue that escapes us almost all the time. Not because we don’t have the inclination but more often than not we know not what to do.

Elegance is about leading an unhurried life. It is about three hour meals and not some quick noodle lunch.

It is about watches that you have to hand-wind and store in felt-coated chrono cases: not those that you can leave behind for the dust to settle on.

It’s about having your newspapers ironed so that you don’t waste energy in settling the creases and it is about the little joys that we so often savour but are ones that elude us for an eternity.

It’s about ivory bookmarks in well-thumbed and dog-eared classics that you have stored away to using linen freshener sprays just for that restful sleep.

It’s about leather bathroom slippers that you wear with your pajamas that are monogrammed especially for you.
It’s about knowing how long to brew your Darjeeling to where to find the finest honey in the world.

It’s after all not about sucking out the marrow from your mutton curry bones but using a civilised marrow spoon, which you’ve got specially made.

So go ahead and ask me anything under the sun. Anything, that you believe will help you inject certain elegance into your charmed existence.

Things that you are either afraid to ask or believe will remain unanswered. I will have lots of answers because this is the life I practice. The kind of life I lead.

For what’s life if bereft of elegance. As I said, the charm of an unhurried life is worth savouring with touches of refined elegance…
