Shakin' smooth summer!

Posted By: Aditya Bal (LEAN IS IN)

During the hot summer months, I find it quite difficult to eat cooked food, especially in the day. What to say, the heat and humidity of Mumbai has us all reaching for salads, sandwiches and juice.

Now that’s great if you can get out to eat at a café on a daily basis but it isn’t practical when you are working through the day.

I also find that as salad leaf and fresh vegetables are not at their best during these months, getting a really good and filling salad, can mean going to an up market place to eat.

That can be an expensive affair if you do it regularly and not something that'll keep you going all day.
Fortunately, I have found that shakes and smoothies make for perfect and quite filling meals in themselves (along with a nice sandwich).

They are a breeze to make and can be varied endlessly by playing around with a handful of ingredients, all of which you can easily carry or store in your office fridge.

All you need is a hand blender or mixer, some lovely cold yoghurt, fruit of your choice, honey and dry fruit. You can also add oats or corn and wheat flakes if you like.

I simply bung it all in my trusted mixer, whiz up for a minute or two, pour it in a nice tall glass and drink up! And just like that my quick energy boosting meal is done.

A smoothie or shake like this between or even as a main meal can be had, two or even three times, a day and is very good for the body.
As it is liquid, it digests faster and all the goodness gets into the system real quick.

The fruit has natural sugars, the curd is full of cooling, friendly bacteria which aid digestion and the dry fruit and cereal provide the much needed fibre to keep you going through a busy day. Just perfect!!

Give it a shot people and let me know...
