Holi Heydays

Holi means a lot to me as I have fond memories associated with it. Despite being a Parsi, I would look forward to this festival of colours and run riot along with my friends or rather my 'Gang' as I would call them, when I was in school.

It was like full on masti and the build up to the big day used to be amazing! I remember, I loved throwing water balloons and I was horrible.

As soon as school would get over, I would run out and hurl balloons at unsuspecting kids eating gol gappas outside the premises and then I would hide. My principal would shriek, “Perizaad is at it again!”

Once my best friend Avinash broke three eggs on my head and I got so upset that I didn't speak to him for three days. He still remembers that day. I used to be the Goondi of the lane but that was long ago.

Later my exams coincided with Holi, so I couldn't go out and play. Then I went to the US. I have never been a part of Holi parties or bhaang parties and now I prefer to stay indoors.

I will play again when Zaha grows up, now I have a baby to play with, probably I will relive those emotions once again with my baby.
