3. Best Actress - Emma Stone
Coming a long, long way from her consecutive stints in rom-coms, Emma Stone literally shone at the Oscars, taking the best actress award home for the movie La La Land!
4. Best Actor - Casey Affleck
Assuming a role of a brother who has to take up his deceased brother's entire life awarded Affleck with the best actor win, and it was well deserved.
5. Best Foreign Language Film - The Salesman
Amidst the unprecedented political environment in the USA, director Asghar Farhadi couldn't make it for the ceremony where he won his second Oscar for best foreign language film!
6. Best Supporting Actress - Viola Davis
Not that anyone ever doubted the acting prowess that Viola Davis possesses, but her path breaking performance in Fences reinforced that, and how! She very deservingly took the award for the best supporting actress home! And while we are at it, can she also be given the best acceptance speech award?!
7. Best Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali
A historic win, as Ali is the very first Muslim actor to win this award, for his stunning performance in Moonlight! It was his first nomination as well, and the fact that two of the movies he acted in were best picture nominees speaks volumes about his choices as an actor!
