Answer : Dear Priyanka,

PCOS is a metabolic disorder and 50-60% of women with PCOS are obese so follow strict diet regime that is low fat and high fiber diet, cut down on simple carbohydrate like sugar and refined cereals. Increase the quantity of fibers in form of vegetables and salads in your diet. Drink plenty of fluids in form of skimmed butter milk, lime water (lukewarm), soups.Avoid high calorie fruits such banana, mango, grapes, cheeku etc and juices.

Food to be avoided:

· Red meats, organ meats, egg yolk.

· Saturated fats-coconut, vanaspati ghee, butter.

· Fried product- chips, nankeens etc

· Bakery products- cake, pastries, biscuits etc.

You should include exercise on regular basis such as brisk walking, yoga, aerobics.

Drink at least 8 cups of noncaffeinated fluid as a low carbohydrate intake can cause dehydration.

Thank you.
