Suhel Seth is the self-styled arbiter of all things fine and luxurious. We ferried him on one's of India's most luxurious trains - Royal Rajasthan On Wheels and asked him for the Report Card.

So will RROW meet his exacting standards? Let's hear it from the man himself...

I have a golden rule, if you've been to a place before, you've done the sight seeing bit. So you've done your photograph with your Mummy and your Papa and with your little Tony and Tiny!

You've carried a little tee shirt for the ugliest aunt you ever had and for the most precocious nephew you ever can have. So you've done that.
Now what you want to do is actually enjoy it for yourself.

Luxury is not about hotels. Luxury is not about grandeur. Luxury is about experiences that luxury provides, as you can't replicate that experience in your house. That's why I was looking forward to RROW.

It is indeed a unique experience to board a luxury train in the heart of Rajasthan.

When I got onto Udaipur station's platform and saw this splendid train parked there waiting to receive me, my first concern was, “Will these guys get it right?”

And I have to say, on first count they've got it pretty much all right.

I actually had a lot of concerns before I boarded the train: Will the air conditioning be right? I didn't want to go through savage climates of 44 degrees in paltry air conditioning. So I'd say the air conditioning is brilliant.

The size of the suite is fantastic. It's a very very healthy size. Whether you are alone or with a companion, no kids though.
If I were the designer, which thankfully I'm not, I'd perhaps tone down some of the colours.

I love the little knick knacks, I love the quivering lamp. So if you are planning to write your memoirs, remember to have a very steady hand or at least a very stiff drink.

The heart of the matter: A fantastic watering hole with my favourite drinks a splendid barman who starts working when we are ready for the sundowner. Pretty interesting decor.

Whenever I go to a hotel, whichever part of the world it may be in, the first thing I do is, check out the menu. I'm an extremely health conscious, diet conscious, very fit person.

Civilised train journeys always revolve around the dining car. This is where it all happens. You eat here, you meet people, you share a cocktail, you perhaps dip into a soup.

This is what I would call a place where you can savour Royal Rajasthan on perhaps one of India's most luxurious trains.

My verdict? It is a wonderful train. What I love is, the staff is over eager to please you. The food is outstanding.
They have great cuisine, a lovely chef.
I think they make a huge effort.
