  The Black Eyed Peas
THE ROLLING STONE SHOW

You can love them or hate them but you can't deny that The Black Eyed Peas gave Hip Hop an entirely new complexion.

With their multi-racial and ethnic roots, this American hip hop group forged a sound that was sometimes twisted yet very very radical.

They were R&B's biggest success story at the turn of the century. And now, The Peas are back with THE E.N.D, their fifth studio album and their first since Monkey Business, the 2005 release that won them superstardom.

We caught up with bandmates Will-i-am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo and Stacy Fergie Ferguson. Some excerpts...

BOOM BOOM POW

Taboo: Boom Boom Pow was the first instalment to the album THE E.N.D. It's a song that is not expected of The Black Eyed Peas.

Apl.de.ap: How Boom Boom Pow came about is one day we were creating the beat and we wanted to make something that will quick you really fast, like I want to hit him like Boom Boom Pow!

Will.i.am: Boom Boom Pow video, whoa it should be Boom Boom Wow!

Fergie: The concept of the video is our rebirth into this music world, into the digital afterlife.

THE E.N.D.

Taboo: THE E.N.D. is a play on words (The Energy Never Dies) it stems from the evolution of how conventional music is sold and also The End of the misconception or rumours that The Black Eyed Peas have broken up.

Fergie: It was really our intention to take it to the next level with this one. We haven't been together in a while so it was important sonically and visually to take it to the next level.

When we got together to do this album we just wanted to hang around each other and have a good time and that's what the songs are about.

EQUAL MUSIC

Will.i.am: Wherever you go, if you go to Russia, Rio, Korea, Hong Kong, Shanghai, they are playing dance music.
That's what the world looks like. So The Peas are on a global assault...to continue to smash the planet!

There are two ways of bringing people together, you can say, “Let's come together.” Or you find the commonality between all races and ethnicities and that commonality is – Dancing.
