  The First Ladies
THE FIRST LADIES

What do our superstar husbands think about The Mrs? The First Ladies in their lives, who knew them long before they made it big.
The women who captured their hearts and became their wives. Who weathered the storms of stardom and are still standing by their man. Let's find out...

Big B about wife Jaya...

Amitabh Bachchan: We both chose to spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife. She's from the Industry and very grounded in our culture and ethos.
I felt she would be an ideal person to bring into the family and I'm very happy with my decision.

She's a very independent-minded lady. Her beliefs are very original, very natural, very simple. She's not full of any kind of intrigue. She's very basic. But she's very strong in what she believes and once she makes up her mind about something it's very difficult to alter it.

Most of the time, we've found that her basics are always right when her beliefs come. She's also somebody who has an uncanny sixth sense about people, about events, about situations. That's why we go to her when we want an opinion or decision.

The Badshah about wife Gauri

Shahrukh Khan: I really appreciate the fact that she's very comfortable being who she is. But I'm not!

I like to be Superman one day, Batman the next. I want to be Om one day, I want to be Shanti one day! I've got issues with myself, she doesn't.

She could be Shahrukh Khan - the superstar's wife or anybody's wife but she is always comfortable with herself.

Our relationship is founded on a bit of everything – Love, Friendship and Lust... We try to demarcate relationships – Is it X? Is it Y? Is it Z? But I don't think it works like this.
So I'll say, 33 and 1/3rd Lust, 33 and 1/3rd Love. The degrees vary on different days depending on the sofa you are sitting on!

It's like when you have a child and you don't realise the child is growing taller, outsiders do. So, I think relationships are like that. You don't know how they are evolving. But they must be changing.

When people ask me, “Have you changed over the years?” We say, “No not at all!” Though it must be happening to all of us. We still feel like we came to Mumbai 18-19 years ago and we'll go back one day.
And we feel like we just got married and by the way we've got two kids!

The Daddy of Saaransh about wife Kirron...

Anupam Kher: I saw her when I was 19 and she was already a very well known actress in Chandigarh.

I saw a person who had a great personality but then I was just a man who had seen a beautiful young lady.

It's not that when I met her, immediately there was a kind of chemistry. We were very dear friends for a long long time before I actually fell in love and married her.

She's a very intelligent person, a person with a lot of depth. She's at heart very simple. She's forgiving and she stood by me, sometimes for my right reasons and sometimes for my wrong reasons.
But she has stood by me. She is a great strength.

Zille-Ilahi Duggu about wife Suzanne

Hrithik Roshan: The first time I saw Suzanne, I was like whoa! Wow, can I ever have someone like this in my life? I'm not good enough, she won't like me...

I could go on and on about the wonderful things about her but it may get boring after a few hours of trying to put it into words!

We both have come to a place where we accept each other for what we are and it's not so much about possessing and trying to make her fit into the image I have of her, because that's the image I love about her.

It's more about setting each other free and accepting each other as we are. She hates it when I say this but she's 24-hours, non-stop entertainment. You should hear her speak in Hindi with the workers in our house!

I may be working and it's so funny when I catch her struggling to explain something to them! I actually have to stop my work to watch her and it's like the best moment of the day!

The Rockstar about wife Adhuna

Farhan Akhtar: The first time I saw her she was doing a cartwheel! So that's what struck me that oh my God she does an amazing cartwheel and she's got red hair!

There are many good things about being married to Adhuna...To start with she is very, very beautiful, apart from that she's a very good friend and I can share my inner-most secrets with her.

She's somebody with whom I have two beautiful children and she's been amazingly supportive of me. I think the biggest thing she did was, say “Yes!” when I asked her to marry me!

The most wonderful thing about her is that she is completely her own person.
She's great at what she does, she's probably the leading stylists in this country.

The fact that she has managed to strike such a good balance between parenting, being a part of a family and at the same time maintain this kind of standard and quality at work is an achievement!

Munna Bhai about wife Maanayata

Sanjay Dutt: The best thing about being married to Maanayata, is she loves her home, she loves her house, she loves to cook.

She is a very strong-willed, strong-headed girl who loves to do a lot of social work and help people.

I'm a lucky person to be married to her. When I first saw her, I thought she was pretty, very pretty. But as I got to know her..it's not the beauty from the exterior.
She's beautiful inside, she has got a beautiful heart, a big heart.

But yes when I first saw her, I thought, “Wow, she's beautiful!”
I just would want to change one thing about her – her straight forwardness. I think there are times and places to be straight forward and there are times and places to be a little diplomatic.
Look at life and act accordingly, that's my advise to her.
